Freedom to Vote

When a political campaign ends and victory is secured, there is a moment to pause.  A moment to realize that what has been accomplished was invigorating, uplifting, and for a few short weeks, it created excitement in our life.

But it also gives me pause to realize how many brave men and women have paid for our right to vote with their blood, sweat, tears, and in many cases, with their lives.  If you voted in the election, then I’d like to congratulate you for exercising your democratic right to vote.

If you did not vote yesterday and you are unhappy with the way things turned out, I’d like to encourage you to become involved.  Anybody can make a difference, all of us can make change, and the future is ours to shape.

The greatest gift we give our children is freedom, but we should never lose sight that freedom stands just one generation away from extinction.  Freedom is sacred and precious; it must be fought for and defended.  It is a pathway we must never fear; let us bravely take the path of freedom and even though that path may be difficult, it is most assuredly the best path for all of us.
